An easy, yet tasty weekend treat that is sure to please everyone in the house! The addition of vinegar in your recipe will make extra fluffy, mouth-watering pancakes.
This recipe makes approximately 4 pancakes.
- 150g plain flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons Natural Umber
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 140ml milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 knob of butter, to grease the pan
Sift the flour and baking powder into a large bowl. To the bowl, add the Natural Umber, vanilla extract, milk and egg and whisk together well until you have a smooth consistency. Leave the mixture to sit for a few minutes.
Heat a pan to medium heat and grease with a knob of butter. Add around 1 quarter of the mixture, depending on how large you like your pancakes, and wait until you can see bubbles appearing in the middle before flipping. Cook until both sides are golden brown. Repeat with the remaining mixture.
Tip: Keep the pancakes warm in the oven whilst cooking, or on a warm plate.
To serve add any topics that suit your taste. You could try the traditional sugar and lemon, or maple syrup. Alternatively, add some chopped fresh fruit and yoghurt, or glaze some apple slices in butter whilst the pan is still hot.
