Sales Executive – Natural Umber
Full-time | 50% field-based | Northern Ireland
Base + performance-related bonus
We’re not looking for someone to simply manage a sales territory.
We’re looking for someone who wants to build one.
Natural Umber is an ambitious, growing food brand, and we’re looking for a commercially minded Sales Executive who has the drive, confidence and initiative to help take it to the next level.
This role will suit someone who gets a genuine buzz from winning new business, opening doors, building relationships and seeing sales grow because of something they made happen.
You won’t be handed a rigid script and asked to follow it. We want someone who thinks for themselves.
Someone who spots opportunities.
Someone who asks, “Why aren’t we selling to them?” and then goes and finds out.
Someone who is hungry to win, but understands that great sales is about being smart, personable and commercially aware rather than pushy.
The Opportunity
You’ll take ownership of growing Natural Umber sales across Ireland and the UK, developing existing customers while actively finding new opportunities across food service and retail.
You’ll work closely with the business owner, but this is very much a role for someone capable of taking an objective and running with it.
Your job is simple to describe:
Get Natural Umber into more customers, sell more through the customers we already have, and continually find smarter ways to grow the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Actively identify and win new food service and retail customers
- Build a strong pipeline rather than waiting for leads to come to you
- Develop existing accounts and find opportunities to increase sales
- Build genuine, long-term relationships with customers
- Get in front of decision-makers and confidently communicate why they should stock Natural Umber
- Identify opportunities for larger listings, increased distribution and sole-supply arrangements
- Understand individual customers and develop the right approach for each
- Plan your territory intelligently and make every customer visit count
- Test new ideas and creative approaches to generating sales including social media
- Feed market intelligence and customer insight back into the business
- Work directly with the business owner on ambitious growth initiatives
- Take responsibility for your numbers and constantly look for the next opportunity
- Assist in marketing initiatives
The Person We Want
Experience matters, but attitude, intelligence and drive matter just as much to us.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Hungry.
You aren't satisfied simply maintaining accounts. You want to win new ones.
Commercially sharp.
You understand that selling isn't about delivering the same pitch to everyone. You read people, understand what matters to them and adapt your approach.
A self-starter.
You don't need someone checking what you're doing every hour. You see what needs done and get on with it.
Ambitious.
You want to build something, develop your career and be able to point at growth and say, “I helped make that happen.”
Confident without being arrogant.
You're comfortable walking into a new business, speaking to a buyer or picking up the phone to someone you've never met.
Resilient.
A “no” doesn't ruin your day. You learn from it and move onto the next opportunity.
Creative.
If the obvious sales approach isn't working, you'll try another one.
Likeable and genuine.
We want customers to enjoy dealing with you.
Ideally, You’ll Also Have
- Previous experience in sales, business development or a strong customer-facing commercial role
- Evidence that you can generate new business rather than simply service existing accounts
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Good knowledge of Ireland and its geography
- Strong organisation and the discipline to manage your own territory
- A full, clean driving licence
Food industry experience would be useful, but we'd rather hire an exceptional salesperson with the right mentality than an average salesperson with the perfect CV.
What’s On Offer
- Competitive salary
- Performance-related bonus
- Company pension
- A high degree of autonomy
- Direct access to the business owner and quick decision-making
- The opportunity to have a visible impact on the growth of Natural Umber
- A role that can grow as the brand grows
One final thing…
If you're looking for a comfortable sales job where you inherit a customer list, make your calls and collect your salary, this probably isn't the role for you.
But if you're ambitious, commercially minded and genuinely excited by the idea of winning business and building a brand, we'd like to hear from you.
Tell us what you've sold, what you've grown, or something you've achieved that proves you're the kind of person we're looking for and email to hello@naturalumber.com
